David A. Potak has worked in forensic accounting and construction claim analysis since 2008. Since joining the team, David has performed consulting work through legal counsel for clients including city and state governmental organizations, construction contractors, and real estate developers. David is a licensed CPA in the State of Washington.
Professional Experience
Mr. Potak’s construction experience includes working with public owners, private owners, and contractors in auditing construction project costs and analyzing construction claims. His contract audit experience has included audits on firm fixed price contracts, guaranteed maximum price contracts, and cost reimbursable contracts. Mr. Potak’s audit experience includes the review of contract payment applications, job cost reports, and source documentation related to labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs related to construction projects.
Mr. Potak has also reviewed and analyzed claims on construction projects that are based on labor, materials, subcontractor claims, equipment standby, home office overhead, and job site overhead, as well as other types of financial damage claims. The work involved on these projects has included reviewing contractors’ bids and financial documentation such as invoices and employee timecards, analyzing labor and equipment rates, analyzing job cost reports, evaluating cost overruns, and performing analysis of claim calculations.
